From the heart: The desire for MORE
I'm writing this after a whirlwind experience set against the backdrop of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. One filled with moonsets and sunrise yoga. With fireside-kindled friendships and shared ideas spoken across the waters of a hot spring. With mindful movement and invigorating, icy plunges.
Last week, I had the blessing of co-photographing my business coach-turned-friend, Diana Davis as she hosted her first ever retreat in Steamboat Springs. It was truly an experience unlike any other–which is one of the many gifts of attending (whether as a participant or photographer): each gathering is unique and expanding in its own way.
This particular retreat with Diana felt like the culmination of two years work of dreaming, acting, and creating. Because in summer 2020, I was just beginning my freelancing journey, learning who I wanted to serve and what I wanted to create, and doing my very best to make it happen. Of course there has been evolution, natural and flowing like a beautiful mountain stream. And photographing Diana's retreat felt like the perfect full circle moment I needed: finding my way back to creating and playing with aligned and embodied female entrepreneurs in their goddess energy amidst a beautiful vista.
When I arrived to the retreat center, though, I had this moment of “oh shit”: because this was my third retreat in as many months, because I'm feeling out my new offer as a retreat photographer, because who am I to desire travel and sisterhood and make it part of my business?!
I quickly remedied these feelings and thoughts, and instead flipped the story: how wonderful and amazing that I get to photograph, connect and create with, and just be in the presence of these amazing women?!?!
And the thought that has followed me home from the glowing mountainside has been this: I WANT MORE.
I want more nights spent watching the moon set. I want more dance parties around a campfire. I want more slap-happy laughs. I want more nervous-resetting cold plunges after a long hike. I want more delicious and tasty AF food eaten at a table with badass ladies who have amazing stories to tell. I want more one-on-one time with goddesses ready to blossom. I want more energy filling my cup as a photograph a female entrepreneur feeling her own energy radiate.
It's not greed, it's desire to connect and create. Desire to serve in the ways I know how. Desire to fill my cup as I fill yours.
And it's with this desire in my heart that I invite you to crave more too. Crave more connection. Crave more authenticity. More alignment. More joy and laughs. More turn-on and self-love. More sisterhood and community. All of it. Whatever it is for you. Crave it. Desire it. Invite it in.
